Governments are now implementing creative operations by leveraging technology to streamline digital services, automate procedures, improve citizen experiences, and create a data fabric.

“Contrary to global expenditure trends, India will expand in all segments in 2022,” said Apeksha Kaushik, lead analyst at Gartner.

In 2022, global government IT spending is expected to reach $565.7 billion, up 5% over the previous year.

As legacy modernization continues to be a priority in government organizations, growth in the data center systems segment will continue to slow though the forecast period.

In 2022, software is expected to continue to grow at the fastest rate across all segments, as it did in 2021.

“Governments are executing innovative activities by harnessing technology to streamline digital services, advance automation processes and evolve citizen experiences,” said Daniel Snyder, director analyst at Gartner.

Spending on telecom services is set to decrease in 2022 as governments reduce spending on expensive legacy systems in favour of digital service delivery models.
