The Dead Space remake receives an official release date from EA

EA has finally set a release date for the upcoming Dead Space reboot after months of teasing. Motive Studios, the publisher’s development studio, is now working on the game, which has upgraded the first installment of the original franchise for current-gen consoles and computer hardware. The developer promises to stay “faithful to the original game’s exhilarating concept” while improving the music, aesthetics, and even gameplay.

“Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive, as we’re true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves. It’s been equally exciting to see players’ reactions as we’re taking them on this development journey with us,” said Phillippe Ducharme, the game’s senior producer. “We’re making great progress on our road to hitting Alpha and we’re happy to announce that the game will be launching in January next year. We can’t wait for players, both old and new, to see how we’ve elevated the original experience in the remake to be just as impactful for this generation.”

As for those who may have missed the original title from 2008, Dead Space follows engineer Isaac Clarke and his fight for survival on board the USG Ishimura, a massive mining starship that he was on a routine mission to repair. Stranded, Clarke finds himself confronted by terrifying monsters known as Necromorphs, fighting his way through and trying to maintain his sanity while trying to find his missing girlfriend Nicole.
