The community raises money for a five-year-old family from Tell City

The Tell City Bowling Center is raising money this week for Braydon’s father and sister.

Story Highlights:

  • As two people were arrested in connection to his death, fundraisers have begun to support Braydon’s loved ones.

  • Braydon was a member of the Bumper League at the Tell City Bowling Center and came to bowl every Saturday.

Now, a bucket with Braydon’s name on it sits on the shoe counter, hoping to be filled by the end of the week.

Preflatish tells 44News, all of the TCBC employees also agreed to fill the bucket with their weekly tips.

A TCBC employee and family friend Sarah Preflatish told 44News, “Braydon was always such a sweet little boy. We had talked about how he was going to go places because he just had that imagination. He was always such a sweet, funny little boy.”

Preflatish says Braydon’s father was more than grateful. “He was just amazed about the reaction the community has had for him and his family. I don’t think they realize just how much they’re loved in this town. Which they are.”

This act of kindness comes just one day after Braydon’s mother and her boyfriend were arrested in connection to his death.

The Meade County Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky responded to the report on Monday that Braydon wasn’t breathing. He was taken to a hospital in Harrison County, Indiana where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Harrison County Coroner’s Office, Braydon’s preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma. Authorities arrested his mother 28-year-old Kayla Irwin on Tuesday, along with her boyfriend 40-year-old Daniel Clemans.Irwin and Clemans were taken to the Meade County Detention Center where they each face one charge of Complicity to Murder.

The Meade County Sheriff Phillip Wimpee says this is an ongoing investigation and more charges are pending. At the Tell City Bowling Center, Preflatish says Saturdays are going to look a bit different without Braydon’s presence.

“This Saturday will be the first Saturday that he won’t be here. It’s just going to be… I don’t know, it’s going to be different because just knowing that he’s not going to be here anymore. It’s hard,” she says.
