News Tech: Last weekend, the Wyoming Department of Education posted a school choice poll to social media that, according to an official, was hacked.
She informed the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that the survey’s passwords had been changed and advised against clicking on it because doing so would infect computers with viruses or cause other hardware damage.
A link to the survey was posted on the department’s Twitter account by someone with malicious intent, according to WDE spokesperson Linda Finnerty, and it has since been taken down.
“We’ve tried to investigate, and we’re still looking into it,” she said. “But at this point, we don’t have that identification.”
