News Tech: Leela Aheer, a contender for the UCP leadership position, alleged that several of her social media accounts had been compromised, and the RCMP has verified that they are looking into the matter.
She referred to it as “a targeted attack” and claimed that as a result, inappropriate messages were being sent via it in a tweet.
Aheer, who was chosen to represent Chestermere-Strathmore in the 2019 election, stated on Tuesday that she was astonished to learn that both her personal and public Facebook accounts had been compromised.
“I woke up to messages stating that my account is being used for sexual exploitation. This is disgusting,” she wrote.
The RCMP have confirmed to CTV News that they have received a complaint about the incident and an investigation “is in the early stages.”
Aheer is expected to address the media about the incident on Wednesday.
