News Tech: The development team behind the independently created GNU/Linux distribution KaOS, which is based on the KDE desktop environment and was inspired by Arch Linux, has announced the release of a new ISO snapshot for August 2022, codenamed KaOS 2022.08.
Only two months have passed since the release of KaOS 2022.06, but it already features a host of noteworthy improvements, beginning with the adoption of the PipeWire server as the operating system’s default low-level multimedia framework and server for handling audio, video streams, and hardware on Linux.
Speaking of Calamares, the installer’s user interface has been updated in the KaOS 2022.08 ISO release to be more user-friendly and consistent with the rest of the KaOS programmes. Additionally, the installer now includes a new virtual keyboard to help with installations without physical keyboards. This is the first KaOS ISO that only permits installation using a mouse or touchpad.
