News Tech: Glynis Bryan, the chief financial officer of tech giant Insight, was not a fan of working from home before the pandemic. “I’ll tell you another secret,” Bryan said. “I want all my teammates to be in the office before the pandemic hits. Insight has a flexible working policy that whatever your manager determines is what you can do about flexibility when working in the office or remotely. “And I told my teammates that this manager chose to have you in the office before the pandemic hit”.

Bryan said company officials want to convert the two buildings they use as headquarters in Tempe into one.
They choose Chandler for a variety of reasons, including the ease of access for their employees and because many of the tech companies they work for have offices in Chandler. She also said Chandler has the trained workforce her company needs to fill her positions. The building the company moved into was originally designed to have three floors. Insight changed that by turning it into a two-story building because he wanted to bring as many people together as possible instead of pulling them apart.

And then the pandemic hit in 2020 and changed everything, including plans for Insight’s new global headquarters off Gilbert Street, between Germann and Queen Creek in Chandler. The company completed its move from Tempe this summer. “We bought the building in 2019, made an agreement to sell our existing buildings in Tempe and lived there for a year, but before we were about to move, COVID hit and remove all”. “We will have dense office blocks. However, we decided to go back and we’re really going to split six feet because you never know when another pandemic will hit.

Brothers Eric and Tim Crown started Insight in their Tempe garage in 1988. Eric wrote a business plan for an assignment at Arizona State University’s business school. He received a C-. Undeterred, he decided to continue this business and in the first 8 years, he made $1 billion. Insight has changed its business model a few times since those early days. “We are becoming a leading solution integrator, not a system integrator, but a solution integrator,” says Bryan.
