News Tech: It’s the last call for Tondo Tondo Tondo, an artist exhibition by sculptor, ceramist, painter, and local hero Bob Fazio. “Starting Monday, August 29th, we are transitioning the back of the gallery (“Featured Artist” area). That’s why we’ve decided to host an impromptu open house event on Saturday, April 20th to give you another chance. Bob will be working on a new clay sculpture. You’ll have ample opportunity to interact with Bob and talk to him about his techniques and processes, pausing to guide you through his show.
Tondo Tondo Tondo is a collection of tondo or tondi-inspired paintings and sculptures from Italian Renaissance circular rotundos. The exhibition includes acrylic and watercolor/gouache paintings in circular compositions, circular base sculptures, decorative pottery, lamps, and some of the largest pots he has ever cast. “As a potter, I’ve been casting whole shapes and building stacked structures since 1973, but I’ve generally always lived in a circular world,” says Bob. Visit the Area 61 Galleries (721 Broad Street – entrance under the black awning on the left side of historic Tivoli) to see Bob and other local galleries on Saturday, August 20th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Meet the artist. Regular gallery hours are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM or by appointment – (423) 648-9367.
