News Tech: By altering the Arm64 Linux kernel, a fan has developed a method to run Nintendo Switch games natively on the Linux operating system. The project aims to make Switch games playable on any Arm64 hardware, while it is not an attempt to replicate Horizon OS on Nintendo hardware.
The concept was developed by a fan of the Nintendo Switch and Linux OS, according to a Tom’s Hardware article. The person posting under the handle Kent J Hall on Reddit demonstrated how he could run Nintendo Switch games directly on the Arm64 Linux kernel.
Users will be able to run bare-metal on any specific Arm64 hardware that Linux supports because hardware driver support for Linux is free, according to Hall. He added that the project should function without CPU emulation even on less sophisticated hardware.
The Redditor has posted other videos of the M1 MacBook Pro and Nvidia Jetson Nano playing the Tetris game Puyo Puyo. According to Tom’s Hardware, the videos aren’t accessible at the time of writing.
Horizon Linux has not yet been tried on a Raspberry Pi.
