News Tech: This most recent update will make choosing between various colour profiles much simpler if you buy an MSI gaming laptop with an OLED display. Even though the panel could handle AdobeRGB or P3, there was no setting for these colour spaces in earlier iterations. We applauded the high-end gaming laptop for coming with a 240 Hz OLED panel that offers full Display P3 colours in our evaluation of the MSI Raider GE67 HX. On gaming laptops, where IPS and AdobeRGB or sRGB goals are more frequent, such a display option is uncommon. The only issue was MSI’s own built-in, though.
True Color software for adjusting colors didn’t even have a setting for P3 colors. If you actually wanted to utilize the P3 color space, then you would have to jump through more hoops via Windows. Thankfully, the manufacturer has finally heard our pleas. Updating True Color to the latest version as of this publishing date will add both AdobeRGB and Display P3 tabs to the software as shown by the screenshots below. This allows for easier color space adjustments for users who want to fully exploit the wide gamut of the OLED panel.
After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There’s a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s. When I’m not managing day-to-day activities and US review articles on Notebookcheck, you can catch me following the eSports scene and the latest gaming news.
