News Sports: Ismaila Sarr’s move to Aston Villa has failed, with a series of setbacks prompting Aston Villa to pull out of negotiations.

But problems emerged when the two sides began discussing the details of the deal, including the possibility of Cameron Archer or Kortney Hause joining Watford on loan.

A deal was agreed with Watford on Saturday for more than £25m with add-ons. Sarr will undergo a medical in Birmingham on Monday.

Both Steven Gerrard and the Villa owners expressed reservations about this deal and left. Sarr was not in Watford’s squad for Saturday’s game at Preston North End, although Watford manager Rob Edwards said he was ruled out due to injury.
