News Sports: AS Roma have announced that midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has fractured his tibia and is therefore expected to miss the 2022 World Cup with the Netherlands. He is expected to return to the field in 2023 unless he recovers quickly or the diagnosis improves. The Dutch midfielder is currently on loan from Paris Saint Germain until the end of this season, having picked up an injury during training.
Wijnaldum made his Serie A debut at the weekend against Salernitana in the final twelve minutes, and he will feature against Cremonese in the season opener on Monday. Jose Mourinho’s side are now forced to play without him for months, and we’ll most likely see him in a new shirt in 2023, after the World Cup. It is not yet known if the club will replace him in the final ten days of the transfer window and a final decision will be made in the coming days.
“Following an injury sustained during training on Sunday afternoon, Georginio Wijnaldum was subsequently medically examined and confirmed the presence of a tibia fracture in his right leg. The player will be further evaluated in the coming days, next day”
