Shareholders sue TCF Bank, claiming it withheld financial information in Huntington merger deal

At least two shareholders of TCF Financial Corp. have filed lawsuits in federal court claiming that the Detroit-based lender withheld from investors important financial information in securities filings as it looks to close a merger with Columbus-based Huntington Bancshares Inc.

The separate cases were brought by shareholders Marcy Curtis and Frank Gallo, both represented by attorney Richard Acoelli with Weiss Law LLP in New York City.

The law firm previously announced it was “investigating possible breaches of fiduciary duty and other violations of law by the (TCF) board of directors.”
