NEW HARTFORD — A Utica teenager is accused of using movie money to scam two people selling dirt bikes on Facebook Marketplace, according to law enforcement officials.
Police said Cameron Major, 19, of Utica, logged onto Facebook Marketplace and offered to buy motorized dirt bikes from at least two individuals. Police said Major used an assumed name in the transactions.
The sellers traveled to New Hartford from the Albany and downstate areas, and police said Major asked them to meet late at night on dimly lit roads.
Police said Major paid the sellers in cash money that looked real, but was actually fake money used in making movies.
