Between Christmas and New Year’s Day, Nomi Health doubled their staff. A few more staff were added last week.
Medical Director June Steely tells KLIN News, “We were doing walk up and no appointments necessary. That did change Monday because of those long lines. We were doing over 1,000 tests a day but to make those long lines get shorter and not block traffic and people didn’t have to wait for hours, we had to go to appointment only. We currently have about 540 appointments a day. We are hoping to add more lanes and hopefully increase that number of appointments up to 1,000 in a week or two.”
Dr. Steely says test turn-around time for the Antigen test is about 30 to 60 minutes. There may be a longer delay to receive results from the standard PCR test. She says, “Not only is there a huge demand across the country but we send those to our lab in Salt Lake City. We have had difficulty with flights being canceled. Flight delays. We’ve had some get stuck in a warehouse because all of those workers in the warehouse tested positive so the warehouse had to be shut down for a while. Unfortunately, we are experiencing delays for all those reasons.”
Appointments are filling fast and Dr. Steely says they are nearly booked up. Those wanting to make an appointment need to log on to nomihealth.com/nebraska. Those without internet access can call 402-524-3093 to make that appointment.
