News Tech: The first recipients of the $1,000 Finance Academy programme scholarships were announced by Baker Boyer Bank.
More than 400 students from 15 schools had joined the Finance Academy by the end of May, and they had finished 1,375 modules and more than 800 hours of instruction.
Aiden Carver and Talia Billingsley, graduates of Walla Walla High School in 2022, as well as Dilraj Kaur, a Milton-Freewater graduate of McLoughlin High School in 2022, are the recipients. The money will go toward their ongoing academic aspirations.
The pupils had a chance at the scholarships by successfully completing the digital financial education programme offered by the bank through high schools in the area.
“Baker Boyer is passionate about financial education because it entails critical concepts that can be used in many aspects of life,” Christianson said. “Introducing the youth to these financial competencies early on will aid them in becoming well-versed adults.”
