News Tech: Small companies in San Luis Obispo County were given the opportunity to apply for grants for pandemic relief totaling up to $10,000 back in April. One company, however, claims they still haven’t received the money nearly four months after being told they’d be receiving one of those grants.
Since then, Kearns claims she has attempted to contact South County Chamber of Commerce and San Luis Obispo County officials to inquire about an update on when she will receive the money.
Sheila Kearns, owner of Sheila Kearns Chocolate and Confections on Marsh Street in the heart of San Luis Obispo, claims that more than two months ago, her company was scheduled to receive $5,000 in pandemic relief funding.
She explains to KSBY that all she wants are answers.
They also say they appreciate the patience of the small business community as they continue working through the grant process.
Just hours after we spoke with Sheila Kearns on Tuesday, she let us know that someone with the County had since reached out to her, saying the checks were now being mailed out.
