News Tech: According to a conservative legal group, Minneapolis Public Schools’ current teacher contract provides ethnic minorities with discriminatory rights.
The contract language has sparked outrage, with some calling the measure racist and unconstitutional discrimination against white individuals.
Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit on Monday challenging the accord that ended the three-week teachers strike in March. It involves recruiting methods designed to assist the district in diversifying its teaching staff in order to better reflect the demographics of the kids it serves.
According to the Star Tribune, the case requests a judgement declaring such “racial and ethnic preference” measures unconstitutional, as well as the use of government funds to enforce them.
