Davison-Richfield Area Fire Chief Brian Flewelling said firefighters were on scene within three to four minutes at the building, which houses Graff Detailing and Graff Financial.
Firefighters with the Davison-Richfield Area Fire Department were called out shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, for a commercial structure fire in the 900 block of North State Road, also known as M-15.
“We had heavy fire involvement on the northwest corner of the building in the rear which quickly got into the attic and ran across the entire building,” he said.
Multiple departments including Forest Township, Elba Township, Lapeer, Burton and Grand Blanc were called to out to the scene for mutual aid.
Bob Davis lives nearby on Irish Road and headed toward the building after he heard about the fire.
A portion of M-15 was shut down between Potter and Davison roads as firefighters worked to put out the flames that include the use of two ladder trucks, with two others on standby.
His daughter Allison Davis works in the building, and she received a message from one of her friends regarding the incident.
“The roof was fully engulfed … pieces were falling down,” said Davis of what he witnessed upon arriving at the scene.
The building previously housed Rayola Florist. Renovations had recently taken place inside the business, Davis said, including the installation of new carpet.
“Unfortunately, she’ll be off for a while,” he said. “Graff treats them pretty good.” No one was inside the building at the time of the fire, Flewelling said. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Read more on MLive:
