    Alternatively, you can also kill the StartMenuExperienceHost process in the Details tab of Task Manager and restart the Start menu. Here’s how to do it.

  • Start Task Manager and open the Details tab.
  • Scroll down and locate StartMenuExperienceHost.exe.
  • Right-click the process and select End Task. Click the End Process button to confirm the action.

  • Press Win + X to open the WinX menu.
  • Click Windows Terminal (Admin) to open the terminal as an administrator.

  • The above command will terminate the StartMenuExperienceHost process. When finished, Windows automatically restarts the process and restores the Start menu.

  • Press Win + R to open Run.
  • Type regedit and click OK to open the Registry Editor.
  • In Registry Editor, navigate to the following location. For quick navigation, you can copy and paste the following registry path into the Registry Editor address bar.

  • Right-click the Default Account key and select Delete
  • Click Yes to confirm the action.

  • Press Win + X to open the WinX menu.
  • Click Task Manager.
  • On the Processes tab, scroll down and find the Windows Explorer process.
  • Right-click Windows Explorer and select Restart.
